چکیده

Abstract Background The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect “Spatially separated speech in noise” auditory training on ability perception noise among bimodal fitting users. assumption that rehabilitation can enhance spatial hearing and hence perception. This an interventional study, with a pre/post-design. Speech recognition assessed specific tests. After performing stages intervention group, tests were again implemented, by comparing pre- post-intervention data, abilities assessed. Twenty-four children 8–12 years who had undergone cochlear implantation continuously used investigated two groups control intervention. Results results showed significant difference between different after intervention, which indicated group have improved more than group. Conclusion It be concluded “ Spatially improve In general, method is useful for enhancing ability.

Effect of Vowel Auditory Training on the Speech-In-Noise Perception among Older Adults with Normal Hearing

Introduction: Aging reduces the ability to understand speech in noise. Hearing rehabilitation is one of the ways to help older people communicate effectively. This study aimed to investigate the effect of vowel auditory training on the improvement of speech-in-noise (SIN) perception among elderly listeners.   Materials and Methods: This study was conducted on 36 elderly ...

speech perception in noise mechanisms

background and aim: it will be discussed about five mechanisms in relation to speech in noise perception; including neural encoding and decoding, centrifugal pathways, pitch perception, asymmetric sampling in time and cognitive skills. these mechanisms are related to each other and each is important to recognize speech in noise. in this article, we have tried to rely on the latest studies to de...

Reliability of Interaural Time Difference-Based Localization Training in Elderly Individuals with Speech-in-Noise Perception Disorder

Background: Previous studies have shown that interaural-time-difference (ITD) training can improve localization ability. Surprisingly little is, however, known about localization training vis-à-vis speech perception in noise based on interaural time difference in the envelope (ITD ENV). We sought to investigate the reliability of an ITD ENV-based training program in speech-in-noise perception a...

Speech Perception in Children with Cochlear Implants

Cochlear implants provide access to the speech signal in children with hearing loss that often cannot benefit from acoustic hearing aids. However, despite the numerous positive results in pediatric cochlear implantation, published data still indicated a wide range of performance among implant recipients. Hence, a need to study the possible variables that can affect performance, could account fo...

The impact of bilateral gain reduction on localization and speech perception in spatially-separated noise

Bilaterally independent (mismatched) hearing aids cannot replicate the natural timing and level cues between ears, and hence, may result in negative consequences for localization and speech perception in spatially-separated noise performance. Five gain reduction patterns were used to evaluate the impact of bilaterally mismatched gain reduction schemes on localization and speech perception perfo...
